Awkwafina
Awkwafina has been described as an American actor and performer who started her career through clever raps that tackled the issues of sexuality and race with a an edgy, comical perspective. She then expanded to Hollywood. Nora Lum was born to Chinese-Korean immigrants from Forest Hills Queens. Her first exposure to music was through the instrument of trumpet. Apart from classical music and jazz, the young Nora started to study hip-hop during her teens. In college, she concentrated on her studies and majored both in women's study and journalism. In a short period of time, in Beijing, Mandarin language classes were also available. After graduating, she began to pursue music as her main focus. Following her viral success via the Internet the track My Vag was a reaction to the Mickey Avalon song My Dick. It eventually made its way onto the debut album Yellow Ranger. The album featured other popular hits, including the body positive Queef as well as the cheeky hometown tour NYC Bitche$1. This track was directly linked with another Awkwafina project NYC Travel Guide, which was published in 2015. After a successful career as a musician, she chose to assume the role of actor. In addition to early shows such as Girl Code and Tawk she was also featured in movies such as Neighbors 2, Storks and Bad Rap. Her breakthrough came in the year 2018, with several movies that were highly regarded, such as Dude Ocean's 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. This June, she released her EP "In Fina We Trust".
